Nepal has launched a national conference focused on menstrual health, bringing together key stakeholders from across Nepal and the South Asia region in an effort to strengthen standards, research, and collaboration in menstrual health management.
The conference-jointly organized by Days for Girls Nepal and the Swedish Institute of Standards-officially kicked off today at the Hyatt Centric Kathmandu Hotel. It features participation from non-governmental organizations, government institutions, researchers, health practitioners, and advocacy groups working to improve menstrual health outcomes in Nepal and beyond.
This year’s event places a particular emphasis on menstrual health product standards, with morning sessions coordinated by representatives from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The goal is to promote quality, safety, and accessibility in menstrual products used across the region, aligning them with global compliance frameworks.
According to organizers, the conference aims to foster collaboration, showcase ongoing initiatives, and provide a platform for sharing innovative approaches to menstrual health. Sessions include research presentations, program-sharing discussions, and policy dialogues addressing menstrual equity and community-based solutions.
The event is being held in a hybrid format, allowing participants to join either virtually or in person. In-person registration is free and includes breakfast and lunch for attendees. The program is expected to gather wide participation from local and international organizations advocating for improved menstrual hygiene education, product development, and systemic policy support.
