Kathmandu, August 29 – A unique science exhibition titled “Faces of Ice: A Science Exhibit on the Changing Glaciers of Nepal” is set to take place from September 1 to 4, 2025, at the Auditorium of Alliance Française Kathmandu, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.
The exhibition will explore the beauty of Nepal’s glaciers and highlight their critical role in sustaining ecosystems, water resources, and communities in the Himalayan region. Visitors will be able to engage with scientific insights, creative presentations, and interactive learning opportunities designed to raise awareness about glacier conservation amid accelerating climate change.
The event is being organized in partnership with the Korea Safety Health Environment Foundation (Global Seed Grant 2025), Fun Play Learn, ICIMOD, the UNESCO Chair in Mountain Water Sustainability, Nepal, and Alliance Française Kathmandu.
Entry is free of charge and no prior registration is required, making the exhibition open and accessible to students, researchers, policymakers, and the general public alike.
Organizers emphasized that this collaborative effort also contributes to the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (IYGP) 2025, a global initiative dedicated to protecting glaciers and their ecosystems.
Through this event, partners aim to inspire dialogue and action for glacier conservation in Nepal, a country whose mountains are often described as the “water towers of Asia.”
