The Nepal English Language Teachers’ Association (NELTA) is set to organize the 30th NELTA International Conference 2026 at Galaxy Public School, Gyaneshwor, Kathmandu, on January 30 and 31, bringing together English Language Teaching (ELT) professionals from Nepal and across the world.
Held under the main theme “ELT for NextGen: Teaching for People, Planet, and Peace,” the two-day conference aims to explore contemporary issues, innovative pedagogical approaches, and research-based practices in English language education, with a strong focus on social responsibility and sustainability.
According to the organizers, around 800 English language teachers are expected to participate in the conference, making it one of the largest ELT gatherings in the country. The academic programme includes five keynote sessions, six plenary sessions, eight featured speeches, one panel discussion, a NELTA Province-Level Symposium, and 134 concurrent sessions, comprising research papers, workshops, talks, and an interactive language fair.
The conference will host teachers, researchers, educators, and ELT professionals from more than 15 countries, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, China, Singapore, Mongolia, Japan, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States, reflecting the event’s growing international reach and relevance.
The event is supported by key national and international institutions, including the University Grants Commission (UGC), RELO, the U.S. Embassy, the British Council, along with various educational institutions, publishers, and business organizations working in the education sector.
Organizers state that the conference is expected to contribute significantly to the professional development of English language teachers by introducing innovative, inclusive, and context-responsive approaches to ELT, thereby supporting the overall improvement of English education quality in Nepal.
The conference will be formally inaugurated at 8:00 am on January 30, with Prof. Dr. Dipak Aryal, Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, attending as the Chief Guest.
