Lalitpur, September 13, 2026 - Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhana Raj Acharya has been honoured with a Certificate of Felicitation in recognition of his leadership and contribution to urban development, sustainable tourism and public service.
According to the certificate presented by Asian Professional Achievement Award Nepal 2026, Mayor Acharya was recognised for his “Visionary Leadership in Urban Development & Public Service.” The award acknowledges his distinguished leadership in promoting tourism, urban development and public service, as well as his efforts toward infrastructure advancement and international cooperation for the sustainable growth of Pokhara.
The certificate also recognises his commitment to civic responsibility, public asset protection, sustainable tourism and progressive urban development, describing these efforts as reflecting a spirit of visionary leadership, public service and excellence.
The recognition was presented with pride at Hotel Himalaya, Kupondole, Lalitpur, Nepal, on September 13, 2026.
The certificate was provided by Rt. Hon. Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Chief Guest and First President of Nepal, and Pradeep Raj Onta, Chairman of Season Media Nepal, the organiser of the event.
Pokhara, Nepal’s internationally recognised tourism gateway and a major destination for nature- and adventure-based tourism, faces growing challenges associated with rapid urbanisation, infrastructure needs, environmental sustainability and climate resilience. Leadership that connects urban development with sustainable tourism and responsible public service is therefore increasingly important.
For Pokhara, the challenge ahead is not simply to expand infrastructure and tourism, but to ensure that the city's growth remains inclusive, environmentally responsible, climate-resilient and beneficial to local communities.
The recognition of Mayor Acharya highlights the growing importance of visionary municipal leadership in shaping sustainable and resilient cities in Nepal.
Ecosphere News believes that sustainable urban development must place people, nature, public accountability and long-term resilience at the centre of local governance.FB_IMG_1789302522315-1789302555.jpg
