Kathmandu, July 26 - The Nepal Entrepreneurship Forum 2025 concluded on a high note in Kathmandu, bringing together a vibrant mix of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and thought leaders determined to accelerate sustainable innovation and inclusive economic growth across the country.
Organized as a landmark event for Nepal’s evolving entrepreneurial landscape, the forum was inaugurated by Conference Convener Chittaranjan Pandey, setting the tone for forward-thinking dialogue on socio-economic transformation through innovation.
One of the key highlights was an inspiring keynote by Prof. Dr. Satyajit Majumdar, Managing Director of the TISS Incube Foundation, who delved into the shifting paradigms of sustainable entrepreneurship. He emphasized the importance of building business models that not only generate profit but also address social and environmental challenges.
Representing the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Mr. Ken Shimizu, FAO Representative for Nepal and Bhutan, spotlighted Nepal’s significant but underutilized potential in agribusiness. His address emphasized the urgent need for inclusive investments, digital capacity building, and AI-powered innovations to bridge rural-urban disparities and revitalize Nepal’s agrifood systems.
Mr. Shimizu also presented several FAO-led transformative initiatives, including the Hand-in-Hand Program, the Digital Village Initiative, and collaborative ventures with Nepali youth. These programs aim to create a resilient, innovation-driven agriculture sector equipped to face the challenges of climate change and global market shifts.
Adding a powerful voice from Nepal’s academic and entrepreneurial community, Mr. Narottam Aryal, President of King’s College, underscored the role of collective action, shared knowledge, and a unified national vision in expanding Nepal’s startup ecosystem. He emphasized that democratizing prosperity requires inclusive platforms and educational reforms that empower the next generation of innovators.
The forum reaffirmed a growing consensus: sustainable development and entrepreneurial success in Nepal are intertwined, and with the right support systems, digital literacy, and inclusive policy frameworks, the country can unlock new frontiers of economic growth led by youth, technology, and agribusiness.
