Lalitpur, Nepal – Mark your calendars for 28th and 29th Magh, 2081, as the 2nd National Chemical Engineering Exhibition and Festival, InnoChem 2025, returns to the IOE Pulchowk Campus. Organized by the Students Society of Chemical Engineering (SSOChE), this year’s event promises to be an unmissable celebration of creativity, sustainability, and innovation in chemical engineering.Event_Banner_25-1737410984.png

Under the theme “Innovating for a Circular Economy,” InnoChem 2025 focuses on fostering sustainable, resource-efficient solutions that reimagine traditional systems through reuse, recycling, and regeneration of materials. The event brings together students, professionals, and industry leaders to explore the critical role of chemical engineering in driving a more sustainable future for Nepal and beyond.

Five Exciting Competitions to Watch

This year’s InnoChem will showcase participants’ skills and creativity through five unique competitions, each addressing real-world industrial challenges:

ChemE Plant Design Competition: Innovative plant designs with a focus on sustainability.

Energy Efficient Design Challenge: Encouraging energy-saving solutions with maximum efficiency.

ChemE Car Competition & Demo Explosives: Engineering small, efficient vehicles and demonstrating chemical reactions.

Waste to Energy Challenge: Creative solutions to transform waste into usable energy.

P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) Competition: Showcasing mastery in industrial process design.

Building on the Legacy of InnoChem 2024

The success of InnoChem 2024 set the stage for this year’s expanded event. Standout projects from the previous year included:

Banana Fiber Extraction: Utilizing banana plants for sustainable material production.

Gelatin-Based Bioplastics: Innovative bioplastics as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional plastics.

Biodiesel Production from Waste Cooking Oil: Transforming waste into renewable energy.

SWTP (Small Wastewater Treatment Plant) Using Hydrodynamic Cavitation: Efficient solutions for water treatment.

These projects demonstrated the potential of chemical engineering to address pressing environmental and industrial challenges, inspiring participants to push boundaries at InnoChem 2025.

A Vision for the Future

“InnoChem is more than just an exhibition; it’s a platform to inspire innovation and collaboration,” said the organizers from SSOChE. “This year’s theme, ‘Innovating for a Circular Economy,’ highlights our commitment to creating solutions that balance environmental responsibility with economic feasibility.”
