Pokhara, Nepal - Young innovators in Nepal are being encouraged to develop creative solutions for waste management through the Youth Innovation Challenge on Recycling and Upcycling, organized as part of the second edition of RU FEST 2026 - Re-Think 2026.
The initiative is being organized by Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Pokhara Municipal Youth Council.
The competition aims to encourage young people to transform waste into valuable resources, promote recycling and reuse, and contribute to sustainable development through environmentally friendly innovations.
According to the event announcement, participants will have the opportunity to present their innovative ideas or prototypes at RU Fest. Selected ideas may also receive support to help turn them into practical ventures, with assistance from the GURU Project and the possibility of securing resources to implement their proposals.
The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between creative ideas and practical solutions by encouraging youth-led entrepreneurship in waste management, recycling, and upcycling. It also highlights the potential of a circular economy, in which materials are reused, waste generation is reduced, and resources remain in productive use for longer.
Young people with innovative ideas, creative concepts, or prototypes related to waste management, recycling, and upcycling are encouraged to apply.
