Kathmandu, Nepal - Pokhara University has officially joined the 2nd International Climate Camp 2026 as an organizing and academic partner, strengthening regional collaboration on climate action, environmental research, and sustainable development across South Asia.
According to the announcement made by the organizers, the international event will be held from 7-11 July 2026 in Kathmandu and Pokhara, bringing together academics, researchers, policymakers, youth leaders, environmental advocates, and climate experts from different countries.
A major highlight of the camp will be a full-day International Climate Conference scheduled for 9 July 2026 at the Pokhara University campus. The conference is expected to feature expert panel discussions, research presentations, academic exchanges, and policy dialogues focused on pressing climate and environmental challenges facing the region and the world.
Organizers stated that the inclusion of Pokhara University, one of Nepal’s leading higher education and research institutions, will enhance the academic dimension of the event and provide participants with opportunities to engage with scholars and researchers working on climate change, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, and development issues.
The Climate Camp is being organized by a consortium of regional organizations, including BRAC University’s Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER), Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD), Land Our Future Nepal, Center for Atmospheric Pollution Studies (CAPS), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and Mission Green Bangladesh.
Several institutions and organizations from Nepal and Bangladesh have also joined as organizing partners, including Pokhara University, Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University, Clean Energy Nepal, LEDARS Bangladesh, OCREEDS, Sustainable Research and Consultancy Ltd. (SRCL), Global Youth Platform, INSHA Agro & Research Center, and Bangladesh Research Society (BDRS).
The organizers describe the initiative as an effort to foster regional cooperation, climate diplomacy, youth engagement, and knowledge-sharing to address climate-related challenges affecting the Himalayan region and South Asia.
Registration for the camp has been extended until 24 June 2026, with organizers encouraging interested participants to complete their registration before the final deadline.
The event is expected to serve as a platform for discussions on climate resilience, environmental governance, sustainable development, renewable energy transitions, and cross-border cooperation in addressing the impacts of climate change.
