Kathmandu - The Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN) has announced the organization of the “Nepal Handicraft Expo & Cultural Show 2026,” aiming to promote Nepal’s traditional handicrafts, local entrepreneurship, cultural heritage, and domestic tourism.
According to the federation, the three-day event will be held from May 22 to 24, 2026, at Amrapali Banquet and Event Pvt. Ltd. in Baluwatar, Kathmandu, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The expo is being organized in coordination with district and provincial councils affiliated with the federation.
The federation stated that Nepal’s handicraft sector has been generating large-scale self-employment opportunities and holds strong potential for economic expansion with comparatively low investment. Handicraft products worth billions of rupees are reportedly exported annually to countries including India and China, while also serving as important representations of Nepal’s art, culture, and heritage.
Organizers said the expo is intended to support local handicraft entrepreneurs by improving market access, encouraging commercial development of handicraft production, and strengthening district-level associations through income-generating activities. The event will also focus on preserving traditional skills, promoting local art and culture, and supporting the growth of domestic tourism.
The expo will feature handicraft exhibitions and sales stalls, cultural performances, skill demonstrations by local artists and craftsmen, and showcases of traditional Nepali cuisine and ethnic food. Around 70 stalls are expected to display handicrafts and other Nepali products under the “Make in Nepal, Made in Nepal” concept.
Participants from several districts, including Sankhuwasabha, Makwanpur, Dang, Bajura, Taplejung, Chitwan, Bardiya, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Dhanusha, Sunsari, Dhading, Tanahun, Palpa, and Baglung, are expected to take part in the event alongside associations from the Kathmandu Valley.
The federation expressed confidence that the program will help expand the market for local handicraft products, create stronger connections between producers and consumers, and encourage the preservation of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Organizers have also announced free public entry to the expo. Various organizations, including Helvetas Nepal, Nepal Telecom, NMB Bank, and other private sector partners, are supporting the event.
