Green Karnali Project Strengthens Sustainable Agriculture and Livelihoods in Dailekh and Achham

Dailekh, Nepal - The Green Karnali Project, implemented by SOSEC Nepal, is supporting farmers in Karnali Province by promoting sustainable agriculture, improved soil management, and diversified livelihood opportunities.
Under the project, farmer members affiliated with the Fresh Vegetable Production Farmers' Group in Dullu Municipality Ward No. 3, Piru of Dailekh, the Mashta Narayan Fresh Vegetable Production Farmers' Group in Turmakhand Rural Municipality Ward No. 1, Achham, the Panlota Tudikhel Agriculture and Livestock Farming Group, and the Shanti Bhairab Farmers' Group have carried out a range of climate-resilient agricultural activities.
These initiatives include the cultivation of seasonal vegetable crops, the use of slurry fertilizer to improve soil fertility, soil enhancement measures, the construction of soil-cement ponds for water conservation, the preparation of pits for fruit tree plantation, and the promotion of beekeeping as an additional source of household income.
The project aims to strengthen local food production while encouraging environmentally sustainable farming practices. By improving soil health, enhancing water management, and supporting income-generating activities such as beekeeping, the initiative is helping farming communities build resilience and improve their livelihoods.
The integrated approach adopted by the Green Karnali Project reflects the growing importance of sustainable agriculture and climate-smart farming in Nepal's hill regions, where communities face increasing environmental and economic challenges.
