Galchhi, Dhading - Construction of the large-scale Adheri Drinking Water Project in Ward No. 1 of Galchhi Rural Municipality is currently underway, marking a significant step toward improving access to safe and reliable drinking water in the area.
The project is being implemented through a joint partnership between ICDC Nepal, Galchhi Rural Municipality, and the local Consumers' Committee. This collaborative effort reflects a growing model of community-government partnership aimed at addressing critical infrastructure needs in rural Nepal.
According to local youth Mr. Subottam Khatiwada, the project is expected to directly benefit residents of Thumki, Gairigau, Suntar, and Ratchaur-areas that have long faced challenges related to water scarcity and unreliable supply. Once completed, the initiative will not only improve daily living conditions but also contribute to better public health outcomes by ensuring access to clean drinking water.IMG_20260419_222254-1776616718.jpg
Locals have expressed optimism that the project will reduce the burden on households, particularly women and children, who often travel long distances to collect water. The involvement of the Consumers' Committee is also seen as a positive step toward ensuring community ownership and sustainability of the system.
While construction is ongoing, stakeholders emphasize the importance of timely completion and proper maintenance to maximize long-term benefits. The Adheri Drinking Water Project stands as a vital development effort in strengthening rural infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for communities in Galchhi.
