Four Crusher Industries in Tanahun Face Power Cut Over Environmental Violations

Tanahun, Nepal - The District Administration Office in Tanahun District has initiated a surprise monitoring drive targeting crusher industries amid growing concerns over environmental non-compliance and revenue leakage. The action comes as part of a broader effort to enforce regulatory standards and ensure accountability in the sector.
A joint monitoring team led by Chief District Officer Shivalal Tiwari conducted on-site inspections across multiple locations in the district on Sunday. During the inspection, four crusher industries were found to be operating in violation of legal and environmental standards. These included two industries in Belbas of Byas Municipality-13, one in Jhaputar of Rishing Rural Municipality-1, and another in the Satrasae area of Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality.
Following the findings, the administration ordered the immediate disconnection of electricity supply to all four industries. Officials stated that the industries will not be allowed to resume operations until they fully comply with required legal procedures and environmental standards.
According to CDO Tiwari, the monitoring was initiated after repeated complaints that many crusher industries in the district had been neglecting regulatory requirements while also contributing to revenue leakage. “We have begun strict monitoring and will continue taking action against those failing to comply,” he stated.
The monitoring team also seized key documents from some of the industries and has instructed concerned operators to appear within three days with the necessary documentation. Representatives from the District Administration Office, Inland Revenue Office, and District Coordination Committee were part of the inspection team.
Preliminary findings suggest that although nearly three dozen crusher industries are currently in operation across the district, a significant number may not be adhering to established standards. The administration has made it clear that such inspections will now be conducted regularly, regardless of whether formal complaints are filed.
Authorities have warned that industries operating illegally or bypassing environmental and administrative procedures will face strict legal action in the coming days. The monitoring process is expected to continue as part of a sustained regulatory crackdown.
