Children Find Joy in Nature: A Glimpse from Galchhi’s Koshi Stream

Galchhi, Dhading | Ecosphere News
In a serene corner of Galchhi Rural Municipality-1, two young girls were seen enjoying a quiet afternoon by the flowing waters of a local Koshi stream, reflecting a simple yet meaningful connection between children and nature.
Ten-year-old Ediva Khatiwada and eight-year-old Samana Pathak were captured playing along the shallow stream, surrounded by stones, greenery, and the gentle rhythm of flowing water. The scene, observed earlier today, highlights how natural spaces continue to serve as vital playgrounds for children in rural Nepal.
The image portrays the girls curiously engaging with the stream-touching the water, exploring stones, and immersing themselves in an environment free from the distractions of modern technology. Such interactions are not only a source of joy but also play an important role in fostering environmental awareness and emotional well-being among children.
Local streams like this one are lifelines of rural ecosystems, supporting biodiversity and sustaining nearby communities. However, they are increasingly vulnerable to pollution, unmanaged waste, and the impacts of unplanned development. Moments like these serve as a reminder of the importance of preserving clean and healthy natural environments for future generations.FB_IMG_1775311367009-1775311393.jpg
As children continue to find happiness in nature’s simplicity, the responsibility lies with communities and authorities alike to protect these ecosystems-ensuring that such scenes remain a common reality rather than a fading memory.
