Kathmandu - Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, has congratulated leaders of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) following their electoral success, expressing confidence that relations between the two neighbouring countries will continue to strengthen.
In a message shared on social media, Modi said he had a warm telephone conversation with Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the RSP, and senior party leader Balendra Shah. During the conversation, the Indian prime minister congratulated both leaders on their victory in Nepal’s elections and on the party’s overall performance.
Modi also conveyed his best wishes for the formation of a new government in Nepal and reaffirmed India’s commitment to work closely with the new leadership. According to his statement, cooperation between the two countries would focus on advancing mutual prosperity, development, and the well-being of their citizens.
Emphasising the longstanding ties between the neighbours, Modi expressed confidence that joint efforts by India and Nepal would help elevate bilateral relations in the coming years.
Nepal and India share deep historical, cultural, and economic connections, and political developments in Kathmandu are often closely watched in New Delhi. Observers note that messages of congratulations from regional leaders reflect the importance of maintaining stable and cooperative relations between the two countries.
The recent communication signals continued diplomatic engagement as Nepal moves forward with its new political leadership and governance agenda.
