Voters Must Carry Valid Identification to Cast Ballots in House of Representatives Election

Kathmandu: The Election Commission Nepal has urged voters to carry valid identification documents while heading to polling centers for the upcoming House of Representatives (Pratinidhi Sabha) election scheduled for Falgun 21.
According to the Commission, voters must present either their Voter Identity Card or Nepali Citizenship Certificate to exercise their right to vote. In addition, several other government-issued documents will also be accepted as valid identification. These include the National Identity Card, Passport, Land Ownership Certificate, and Driver’s License.
The Commission clarified that only those voters whose names appear on the final voter list and who have completed 18 years of age by Falgun 20 will be eligible to participate in the election. Eligible voters must cast their ballots at their designated polling centers.
The announcement comes as preparations for the election enter their final phase, with authorities emphasizing orderly participation, verification procedures, and adherence to electoral regulations to ensure a free, fair, and transparent voting process.
The Commission has also encouraged voters to verify their names in the voter list beforehand and reach polling centers within the designated voting hours to avoid inconvenience.
As Nepal prepares for this crucial parliamentary election, compliance with identification requirements remains essential to maintaining the integrity and credibility of the democratic process.
