Kathmandu - A policy dialogue on forest and environment-related issues, organized by the Nepal Foresters’ Association, was successfully concluded today at the Association’s Hall in Babarmahal, Kathmandu. The program was organized in the context of the upcoming general elections, with the belief that the discussions would help political parties and prospective public representatives prepare sound policy recommendations for inclusion in their respective election manifestos.
Held on Magh 15, 2082 (Thursday) from 2:00 PM, the dialogue brought together forestry professionals and stakeholders to reflect on policy priorities, existing challenges, and opportunities within Nepal’s forest and environmental governance framework. The discussion emphasized the importance of aligning political commitments with technical knowledge, field realities, and long-term sustainability goals.
Participants highlighted the crucial role of foresters and technical experts in translating policy commitments into effective implementation on the ground. The dialogue stressed that forest and environment policies must be evidence-based, inclusive, and responsive to climate change, biodiversity conservation, and community livelihoods.
The program served as a constructive platform for exchanging ideas on how forest and environmental issues can be more effectively integrated into national political agendas, particularly during election periods. Speakers noted that such dialogues are essential to ensure environmental concerns receive adequate attention in policy formulation and political discourse.IMG_20260129_201639-1769697143.jpg

The event concluded successfully with a shared understanding on the need for continued engagement between forestry professionals, policymakers, and political actors in the lead-up to the general elections.
