Kathmandu - Twelve female journalists have successfully completed the one-month #HerClimateStory fellowship, an initiative aimed at strengthening gender-responsive and evidence-based climate reporting in Nepal.
The fellows received certificates of completion from senior climate journalist and Climate Media Research–Nepal (CMR-Nepal) member Indira Aryal and Project Head Chetana Kunwar, marking the formal conclusion of the fellowship.
The program began with a four-day intensive orientation workshop, where nine subject experts and three experienced mentors guided the participants through key themes of climate change, journalism ethics, storytelling, and misinformation. Following the workshop, each fellow worked closely with assigned mentors for a month to develop an original climate story grounded in research and local context.
The fellowship concluded with the fellows’ active participation in the Kathmandu Conference on Combating Misinformation 2026. As part of the closing phase, a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) was organized, where participants reflected on the challenges of climate misinformation in Nepal and shared insights from their fellowship journey.
The #HerClimateStory fellowship emphasized not only storytelling skills but also the critical role of women journalists in addressing climate narratives, misinformation, and public awareness. By combining mentorship, practical reporting experience, and engagement in national-level dialogue, the program aimed to strengthen climate journalism from a gender-inclusive perspective.FB_IMG_1769511792702-1769511900.jpg

The fellowship was supported by OsloMet - Oslo Metropolitan University, reinforcing international academic collaboration in promoting credible and inclusive climate communication in Nepal.
