Lalitpur - Sumnima Hydropower Company Limited has successfully concluded its 10th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, marking an important milestone in the company’s corporate and project development journey.
The AGM was held with the participation of shareholders, members of the Board of Directors, and senior management. During the meeting, the company presented its annual progress report, audited financial statements, and key strategic plans, which were discussed and approved by the shareholders.
A major focus of the AGM was the company’s ongoing work on the Upper Pikhwa Hydropower Project (4.9 MW), a run-of-river project located in Bhojpur District of eastern Nepal. Management shared updates on construction progress, regulatory compliance, and coordination with relevant government authorities, reaffirming the project’s role in contributing to Nepal’s renewable energy supply.
The AGM also endorsed proposals related to the company’s future capital expansion and public participation plans, including steps toward an Initial Public Offering (IPO), subject to approvals from regulatory bodies. The company has already appointed Machhapuchchhre Capital Limited as its issue manager and institutional advisor, reflecting its intent to strengthen transparency and governance in line with capital market requirements.
Addressing the shareholders, company officials emphasized Sumnima Hydropower’s commitment to sustainable energy development, responsible project execution, and community engagement, particularly in project-affected areas. The management noted that small and medium hydropower projects like Upper Pikhwa play a crucial role in enhancing energy security while supporting local economic development.
The successful completion of the 10th AGM comes at a time when Nepal’s hydropower sector is seeing renewed momentum, with private developers increasingly contributing to clean energy generation and grid stability.
With shareholder approvals secured and strategic plans reaffirmed, Sumnima Hydropower Company Ltd is expected to move forward with its next phase of development, including advancing its project implementation and public investment process.
