Nuwakot/Dhading, August 27, 2025
Travelers journeying from Keureni in Nuwakot towards Khalte and Sunaulabazar in Dhading, crossing over the Trishuli River, are facing growing risks due to deteriorated road conditions.
The route, which connects rural settlements of Nuwakot and Dhading districts, has become unsafe as large sections of the road have eroded and remain unrepaired. Locals and travelers report that the road’s worsening state means accidents could occur at any moment, especially during the monsoon season when landslides and road collapses are frequent.
Despite repeated concerns from commuters, residents say authorities have shown little attention to repairing or upgrading the road infrastructure. “Every time we travel, we worry about accidents. The road is broken in several places, but no one is taking responsibility to fix it,” Shreeram Khatiwada a local traveler remarked.
The Keureni-Khalte-Sunaulabazar route is vital for daily movement of people and goods between Nuwakot and Dhading, as well as for access to markets and essential services. The lack of maintenance not only threatens the safety of travelers but also disrupts local livelihoods dependent on trade and mobility across the Trishuli corridor.
Community members have called on the concerned municipalities and provincial authorities to urgently address the issue and prioritize road safety measures before more lives are put at risk.
