The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, has officially launched the UN-Habitat Catalogue of Solutions 2026–2029, a comprehensive global resource aimed at supporting countries, cities, and development partners in building inclusive, resilient, and sustainable urban communities.
The newly released catalogue compiles tested tools, practical methodologies, and international expertise designed to help governments and stakeholders address some of the world’s most pressing urban challenges. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda, the New Urban Agenda, and UN-Habitat’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2029.
According to UN-Habitat, the catalogue has been developed as a practical guide for Member States, national and local governments, technical agencies, city leaders, funding partners, donor organizations, UN agencies, and Resident Coordinators working on urban development and sustainability.
The publication is structured around three key pillars - Strategic Focus, Impact Areas, and Means of Implementation - and presents a wide range of solutions covering critical urban sectors. These include housing and land management, informal settlements, urban basic services, disaster preparedness and recovery, climate and environmental action, integrated urban and territorial planning, sustainable investment and finance, participatory governance, localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), digitalization, data systems, capacity development, partnerships, advocacy, and communication.
Urban experts believe the catalogue could serve as an important global reference at a time when rapid urbanization, climate risks, housing shortages, and infrastructure pressures are increasingly affecting cities across both developed and developing nations.
The launch also reflects growing international efforts to accelerate sustainable urban transformation and strengthen local-level implementation of global development commitments ahead of the 2030 deadline for the SDGs.
The catalogue is publicly accessible through UN-Habitat’s official platform and is expected to support policymakers and development practitioners in designing more people-centered and climate-resilient urban solutions worldwide.
