Kathmandu, May 6, 2026 - A dissemination workshop focusing on “Pathways and Priorities for Inclusive, Resilient and Low-Carbon Development for Nepal’s Economy” concluded on Tuesday in Kathmandu, bringing together experts, researchers, and stakeholders to discuss sustainable development strategies for the country.
Organized by the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), the event served as a platform to share research findings and policy recommendations aimed at guiding Nepal’s transition toward a greener and more resilient economy.
The workshop highlighted four key sectors critical to Nepal’s sustainable future: forestry and environment, agriculture and food systems, transport, and energy. Discussions emphasized the urgent need to align national development policies with climate goals while ensuring inclusivity and resilience across communities.
Participants engaged in in-depth dialogue on promoting renewable energy expansion, accelerating the adoption of electric mobility, and strengthening climate-smart agricultural practices. Experts noted that integrating these sectors can significantly reduce carbon emissions while enhancing economic opportunities and environmental protection.
Speakers also stressed the importance of evidence-based policymaking, cross-sector collaboration, and investment in green technologies to support Nepal’s long-term development ambitions. The role of local institutions, private sector participation, and international cooperation was highlighted as essential in implementing sustainable solutions.
