Kathmandu-Nepalgunj Flight Returns Due to Bad Weather

Kathmandu - Due to adverse weather conditions, a Buddha Air flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj was forced to return to Kathmandu without landing at its intended destination.
According to airline sources, poor weather in the Nepalgunj area, including low visibility and unstable atmospheric conditions, made a safe landing impossible, leading the flight to be diverted back to Kathmandu.
The incident highlights the direct impact of weather on domestic air travel. Particularly in the western Terai region, where sudden weather changes, strong winds, and dense cloud cover are common, pilots are often required to make alternative decisions prioritizing safety.
As per aviation safety standards, low visibility, dense cloud cover, and unsuitable runway conditions make landing risky. Therefore, the concerned authorities stated that the flight was returned with passenger safety as the top priority.
This incident once again underscores the growing uncertainty of weather patterns in Nepal and their impact on aviation services. Experts have been emphasizing the need to strengthen flight management and forecasting systems as climate change continues to make weather conditions more unpredictable.
In recent days, increasing cloud cover and rainfall in various regions have indicated that flight schedules may continue to be affected. Airlines have urged passengers to check flight status before traveling.
