Heavy Rainfall Raises Flash Flood and Landslide Risk in Sindhupalchok, Authorities Urge Vigilance

Kathmandu, July 27 - Nepal's disaster management authorities have issued an early warning after moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded over the past three hours in Panchkhal, Mandan, Sangachok, and surrounding areas of Sindhupalchok District.
According to an alert issued at 1:50 AM on Shrawan 11 by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), additional rainfall is expected in the affected areas. The continuing precipitation may cause a sudden rise in the water levels of local rivers and streams, significantly increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.
The authorities have urged residents living near rivers, streams, and landslide-prone slopes, as well as travelers using roads through the affected region, to remain highly alert and take all necessary safety precautions. People have also been advised to closely follow official weather forecasts and disaster advisories throughout the ongoing monsoon period.
With monsoon activity remaining active across parts of Nepal, disaster management agencies continue to emphasize the importance of early preparedness and timely response to minimize potential loss of life and property.
