Kathmandu - The British Embassy Kathmandu has congratulated the government and people of Nepal for successfully conducting the general election held on 5 March 2026, describing it as a strong demonstration of the country’s democratic commitment.
In a public message, the Embassy noted that the democratic participation shown by Nepali citizens reflects the country’s deep-rooted democratic values. According to the statement, such civic engagement provides a solid foundation for good governance, political stability, and accelerated economic and social development.
Highlighting the long-standing relationship between the two nations, the Embassy referred to the United Kingdom as one of Nepal’s oldest international partners. It emphasized that the democratic process observed during the election strengthens the prospects for collaborative progress in multiple sectors, including governance reforms, sustainable development, and social advancement.
The UK also expressed its readiness to work closely with Nepal’s newly formed government. The Embassy stated that continued cooperation between the two countries would support efforts aimed at building a brighter, more inclusive, and sustainable future for the Nepali people.
Observers note that international acknowledgement of Nepal’s electoral process reinforces global confidence in the country’s democratic institutions. As Nepal moves toward forming a new government following the election, such diplomatic messages underline expectations for stable governance and development-oriented policies in the coming years.
