Leopard Enters House in Kathmandu, Two Injured as Rescue Operation Underway

Kathmandu, Nepal - A leopard entered a residential house in the Manmaiju area of Kathmandu, injuring two people and triggering an emergency wildlife response, according to the spokesperson of Kathmandu District Police Range.
Authorities said the incident occurred when the wild animal strayed into a house in the northern part of the city, causing panic among local residents. Two individuals were reportedly injured during the encounter before officials began efforts to control the situation.
Security personnel and wildlife officials have been mobilized to safely manage the leopard and protect residents in the area. The rescue operation is currently ongoing, with authorities urging the public to remain cautious and avoid gathering near the site.
Leopard sightings around human settlements have been increasingly reported in the Kathmandu Valley in recent years. Experts say rapid urban expansion and shrinking natural habitats are pushing wildlife closer to densely populated areas, increasing the chances of human–wildlife encounters.
Officials have not yet confirmed the condition of the injured individuals, but emergency teams are working to ensure the safety of both residents and the animal.
Authorities also urged residents of Manmaiju and surrounding neighborhoods to stay indoors and allow rescue teams to carry out their work without disturbance.
Further details are expected as the operation continues.
