CGIAR convened key government officials, researchers, and development partners in Lalitpur to co-design its new Country Strategy Framework (CSF) for Nepal, aiming to strengthen collaboration on food, land, water, and climate resilience.
Chief Guest Deepak K. Kharal, Secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, highlighted the urgency of scientific innovation to tackle Nepal’s growing climate and food-system challenges. Officials from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation also emphasized cross-sector coordination for water and energy security.
CGIAR experts presented insights from a decade of impact in Nepal and outlined priority areas for the next phase of partnership. Breakout groups discussed alignment with national strategies, partnership models, socio-technical innovations, funding gaps, and governance structures for CSF implementation.
The workshop concluded with government guidance on a roadmap for co-design, coordination, and monitoring, reaffirming CGIAR’s commitment to support Nepal through integrated research and evidence-based solutions.
