Kathmandu – August 31, 2025
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has officially endorsed its new Strategic Plan 2026–2029, setting a renewed vision for advancing human development while protecting the planet and ensuring inclusivity.
UNDP Nepal has expressed readiness to translate this global vision into action, prioritizing initiatives that expand opportunities across provinces, strengthen institutions for inclusive governance, build resilience against climate and crisis risks, and promote sustainability through innovation and finance.
“With over six decades of experience and operations in 170 countries and territories, UNDP remains a trusted partner in shaping a future where prosperity and sustainability advance together,” the organization stated.
The new plan emphasizes leaving no one behind, especially in the face of mounting climate challenges, economic vulnerabilities, and governance gaps. In Nepal, UNDP aims to deepen collaboration with government bodies, civil society, and international partners to ensure that development gains are both equitable and resilient.
Framing the strategy as “humanity’s next frontier,” UNDP highlights strong partnerships, creativity, and commitment as key drivers to achieve sustainable development goals in the coming years.
