Kathmandu, October 23, 2024 – Nepal’s renewable energy sector is set to transform as industry leaders gathered to discuss policy, finance, and innovation at RE Week 2024. In a panel titled "Empowering Tomorrow: Integrating Policy, Finance, and Innovation in Nepal's Renewable Energy Landscape," experts addressed critical issues shaping the country's energy future.

The panel, chaired by Badri Nath Baral, a veteran in the energy sector, featured influential speakers such as Sandip Shah (Chairman of Nepal Power), Jeevan Kumar Basnet (CEO of Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company), and Santosh Adhikari (Project Manager at Nepal Electricity Authority). Discussions focused on leveraging Nepal’s hydropower potential, the role of finance in scaling clean energy projects, and integrating policy to ensure sustainable development.

Highlighting the importance of innovation, Nishant Goyal, founder of Kewargeo Greentech, emphasized, “Nepal’s energy future depends on adopting cutting-edge technology that complements our hydropower resources with solar and wind energy."

CEOs like Swaram Singh from Renergo and Prawin Aryal from Sungrow also discussed the financial mechanisms required to accelerate renewable energy development. With support from international stakeholders and organizations like IPPAN, the panel underscored the need for public-private partnerships and foreign investment.

As Nepal aims to expand its renewable energy capacity, events like RE Week 2024 are vital for driving collaboration between policymakers, financiers, and innovators. Kushal Gurung, the Managing Director of Wind Power Nepal, concluded the session by calling for a unified vision to address the country’s growing energy demands while reducing its carbon footprint.
