Kathmandu, May 18, 2025 – The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has forecasted varied weather patterns across Nepal due to the combined effects of western and local winds, along with moisture-laden air from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. These conditions are expected to influence the country's weather for the next 24 hours.
According to the latest weather bulletin, this afternoon will see partly to generally cloudy skies in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the hilly regions. The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.
The department has highlighted the likelihood of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in several areas of the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Other regions may experience isolated showers.
High-altitude regions, particularly the high hills and mountainous areas, are expected to see light rainfall and snowfall. Additionally, some parts of the Tarai regions in Madhesh, Koshi, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces might face strong windstorms.
Nighttime Weather Outlook
For tonight, partly to generally cloudy skies will persist in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while the remaining areas will have clear to partly cloudy weather. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected in some locations within the Tarai regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, along with isolated showers in the hilly regions.
The department has also forecasted light rainfall and snowfall in a few high-altitude areas. Windstorms may continue to impact some parts of the Tarai regions in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to stay alert to potential weather-related disruptions, including heavy rains, thunderstorms, and windstorms. Travelers heading to high-altitude regions are urged to prepare for possible snowfall and plan accordingly.
