Buddhanagar, April 30, 2025 – The NGO Federation of Nepal (NFN) convened its inaugural internal Advisor's Consultation Meeting today, marking the beginning of a comprehensive strategy development process aimed at bolstering Nepal’s civil society sector.
The meeting brought together key advisors and stakeholders to deliberate on the challenges and opportunities facing civil society organizations. Discussions centered on pivotal themes such as:
Long-term vision and sustainability of civil society amidst evolving national and global contexts.
Addressing shrinking civic space and tackling funding challenges for grassroots and national organizations.
Promoting inclusive, responsive, and accountable governance for equitable development.
Leveraging technology, policy reform, and global trends to enhance impact.
Strengthening advocacy efforts and building resilient institutions to navigate future uncertainties.
NFN leadership underscored the importance of a participatory approach, emphasizing the need for internal and external consultations to ensure that the strategy is inclusive and reflective of diverse perspectives. They called for proactive engagement across all levels to shape a robust and sustainable civil society movement.
As the civil society landscape faces mounting pressures, including reduced civic freedoms and financial constraints, this initiative represents a critical step toward safeguarding the role of civil society in promoting democratic values, human rights, and social justice in Nepal.
NFN’s strategic development process is expected to culminate in a roadmap that empowers civil society actors to adapt to emerging challenges while driving meaningful social impact.
