UNDP Hands Over Electronic Building Permit System to DUDBC for Safer, Smarter Cities

In a significant step towards enhancing urban resilience, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has officially handed over the source code for the electronic Building Permit System (e-BPS) to the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC).

This web-based system, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), is revolutionizing the permit process for constructing earthquake-resistant buildings in Nepal.

The e-BPS is now operational in 21 municipalities, streamlining the approval process and promoting safer infrastructure through the UNDP’s Strengthening Urban Preparedness, Earthquake Preparedness, and Response (SUPER) Programme.

With this initiative, Nepal is taking concrete steps towards building more resilient and sustainable cities for the future.
