Kathmandu, August 5, 2026 - The Nepal Foresters’ Association has successfully concluded a technical presentation program focused on “Digital Tools for Smarter Forest Management: Enhancing Silvicultural Decision-Making Through Software Innovation in Nepal.” The event was held today at the Association’s Assembly Hall in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, with the participation of forestry professionals, community forestry practitioners, and other stakeholders from across the sector.

The program featured Dr. Hari Adhikari, founder of Forest Nepal and currently based in Finland, who delivered a detailed technical presentation on the application of digital technologies and software innovations in forest management. His presentation highlighted the potential of digital tools to improve the preparation of forest management operational plans, strengthen silvicultural decision-making, and support more efficient, transparent, and evidence-based forest governance in Nepal.

The session was moderated by Govinda Prasad Dahal and organized by the Nepal Foresters’ Association under the coordination of its secretariat. According to the Association, the presentation was particularly relevant for forestry technicians working in the community forestry sector, where effective planning and management decisions play a critical role in conserving forest resources while supporting local livelihoods.

Participants engaged in an interactive discussion following the presentation, exchanging experiences and perspectives on how digital transformation can contribute to sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience in Nepal. The discussion also emphasized the importance of strengthening the technical capacity of forestry professionals to adapt to emerging technologies and innovative management approaches.

Concluding the event, the organizers expressed confidence that such knowledge-sharing initiatives would help bridge international expertise and Nepal’s forestry practices, encouraging the wider adoption of smart forest management tools in both government and community-managed forests.

The successful completion of today’s program reflects the growing interest within Nepal’s forestry sector in integrating technology, innovation, and scientific decision-making to ensure the long-term sustainability of the country’s forest ecosystems.FB_IMG_1785931049785-1785931104.jpg
