Kathmandu, January 11, 2026
Samyukta Urja Limited (SUL), a Nepali hydropower company developing the 21.3 MW Thulo Khola Hydropower Project in Myagdi district, has successfully concluded its third Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, marking an important milestone as the company transitions into commercial electricity generation.
The Thulo Khola Hydropower Project, located in Raghuganga Rural Municipality of Myagdi, has already entered commercial operation following substantial completion of construction works. With this achievement, Samyukta Urja formally joins Nepal’s growing group of independent power producers contributing to the national grid.
During the AGM, shareholders reviewed the company’s operational progress, financial preparedness, and future plans, including its proposal to raise capital through an Initial Public Offering (IPO). The company plans to issue 4.16 million ordinary shares to the public, with Laxmi Sunrise Capital Limited appointed as the issue and sales manager.FB_IMG_1768130460499-1768130512.jpg

Company officials emphasized that public participation through the IPO will support financial strengthening and long-term sustainability of the project, while also enabling broader citizen ownership in Nepal’s hydropower development. The shares will primarily be offered to the domestic market, in line with prevailing regulatory provisions.
Samyukta Urja is guided by an experienced board and management team with long-standing involvement in Nepal’s hydropower, financial, and development sectors. The company is chaired by Dr. Badri K.C., whose leadership experience spans multiple sectors relevant to infrastructure and energy development.
With the Thulo Khola project now in commercial production, Samyukta Urja aims to ensure stable power generation while contributing to Nepal’s clean energy goals and reducing dependence on energy imports.FB_IMG_1768130202264-1768130257.jpg
The successful completion of the third AGM reflects growing institutional maturity as the company prepares for public listing and long-term operation.
As Nepal continues to prioritize renewable energy expansion, projects like Thulo Khola are expected to play a vital role in strengthening energy security, local employment, and regional development in hydropower-rich districts such as Myagdi in Nepal.
