Kathmandu - Peace Energy Company Limited, a Kathmandu-based hydropower development company, has successfully concluded its 11th Annual General Meeting (AGM) today, endorsing several important resolutions related to financial performance, corporate governance, and future expansion plans.
During the meeting, shareholders reviewed and approved the financial highlights for the fiscal year 2081/82, reflecting the company’s operational progress amid Nepal’s evolving renewable energy landscape. The AGM also approved the appointment of an auditor for the upcoming fiscal year, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency, regulatory compliance, and sound financial oversight.
A significant outcome of the AGM was the formal establishment of the Board of Directors, a move aimed at strengthening corporate governance and enhancing strategic decision-making as the company advances its hydropower portfolio. Shareholders also approved resolutions related to the issuance of Initial Public Offering (IPO) shares, signaling Peace Energy’s intent to broaden public participation and mobilize domestic investment for clean energy development.
Additionally, the AGM endorsed amendments to the Memorandum and Articles of Association, aligning the company’s legal and operational framework with its long-term objectives and prevailing regulatory requirements.
Peace Energy Company is currently developing the 28.1 MW Upper Kabeli Hydropower Project, one of its flagship initiatives. The company has emphasized operational excellence, safety, and sustainability throughout the project’s construction phase. Beyond power generation, Peace Energy has maintained a focus on community development, contributing to local employment opportunities, infrastructure improvement, and socio-economic upliftment in project-affected areas.
With Nepal prioritizing renewable energy to meet growing electricity demand and reduce dependency on fossil fuels, Peace Energy Company’s progress reflects the expanding role of private sector developers in the country’s clean energy transition. The decisions taken at the AGM are expected to further strengthen the company’s institutional capacity and support the timely completion of its hydropower project.
