Kathmandu - Global IME Bank Limited has announced the launch of 19 nationwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to commemorate its 19th anniversary, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to inclusive development and social welfare across Nepal.
The country’s largest private-sector commercial bank stated that the anniversary-linked initiatives will focus on healthcare access, education support, environmental protection, financial literacy, humanitarian assistance, and income generation, with a special emphasis on remote, poor, marginalized, and low-income communities across all seven provinces.
Health at the Core of CSR Priorities
Among the flagship initiatives is the “Global IME Healthy Women Initiative,” under which the bank will organize 14 free women’s health camps nationwide. These camps will provide gynecological check-ups, cervical cancer (VIA) screening, uterine prolapse treatment, and free medicines. Women diagnosed with serious or early-stage conditions during the camps will be supported with follow-up surgical treatment in the second phase.
Implemented in partnership with the Nepal Family Planning Association for the past five years, the program has already benefited more than 10,000 women, according to the bank.
In addition, Global IME Bank will conduct eye check-up and cataract surgery camps in seven locations, targeting individuals in remote areas who have been unable to access treatment due to financial constraints. The bank will also provide free eye examinations and spectacles to 1,500 students studying in government and community schools.
Further health-focused programs include provincial-level health camps, financial assistance for patients suffering from complex and chronic diseases, and emergency support based on recommendations from local governments and health institutions.
Education and Youth Development Initiatives
In the education sector, the bank will continue its scholarship program for poor and academically strong female students from grades 6 to 12. Over the past five years, 140 students have benefited, and the program will be expanded this year to include an additional 77 students.
Other education-related initiatives include library construction in remote schools, distribution of school uniforms and learning materials to 1,000 students, and first-aid training and supplies for schools.
The bank has also announced research grants for MPhil and PhD students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds pursuing higher studies in economics, management, and law.
Environmental Conservation and Climate Awareness
Environmental sustainability remains a key pillar of the bank’s CSR agenda. Under the Global Green School Program, initiatives such as plastic reduction, tree plantation, cleanliness campaigns, and waste collection center establishment will be implemented in coordination with local governments. Waste management training programs will also be conducted at the local level.
Notably, during its 18th anniversary, the bank planted around 21,000 saplings nationwide, exceeding its original target, reflecting growing institutional emphasis on climate-conscious action.
Financial Literacy, Inclusion, and Livelihood Support
To strengthen financial inclusion, Global IME Bank will run financial literacy programs through all 352 branches, focusing on digital banking awareness, electronic fraud prevention, and inclusion of unbanked populations into the formal financial system.
The bank will also implement an Entrepreneurship Workshop Program, providing vocational and skill-based training to poor and low-income individuals to enhance income-generating capacity and local livelihoods.
Community Support and Social Awareness
Additional initiatives include blood donation drives in major cities, food and essential support for children in shelters and orphanages, awareness programs related to autism among children, and distribution of sports equipment in remote schools to promote youth development and discipline.
