Commercial Grape Farming in Tanahun Generates Rs 400 Million Economic Value

Tanahun, Nepal: Commercial grape farming has emerged as a promising agricultural enterprise in Tanahun district, with vineyards in Bahrabise of Ghiring Rural Municipality-4 generating an estimated economic value of around Rs 400 million. Spread across approximately 70 ropanis of land, the grape farm represents a significant example of agricultural diversification and high-value fruit production in Nepal.
The image shows a well-managed vineyard with abundant clusters of green grapes hanging from trellised vines, indicating successful cultivation practices and favorable growing conditions. The dense grape clusters and healthy foliage suggest that the farm has achieved productive yields, demonstrating the potential of grape cultivation in Nepal's mid-hill regions.
Agriculture experts have increasingly emphasized the importance of high-value crops such as grapes for enhancing rural incomes, creating employment opportunities, and reducing dependency on imported fruits. Commercial vineyards can contribute significantly to local economies through fresh fruit sales, value-added processing, agritourism, and market linkages.
The success of grape cultivation in Ghiring Rural Municipality highlights the potential for expanding fruit-based agriculture in suitable climatic zones across Nepal. Such initiatives not only strengthen farmers' livelihoods but also support the country's broader goals of agricultural modernization, rural development, and food system diversification.FB_IMG_1781336487594-1781336861.jpg
As demand for fresh fruits continues to grow in domestic markets, commercial grape farming could serve as a model for other farmers seeking to invest in profitable and sustainable agricultural ventures.
