Kathmandu, August 5, 2025 - The Solar Electric Manufacturers Association Nepal (SEMAN), a leading non-governmental and non-profit professional body representing Nepal’s solar PV electric industry, marked a significant milestone today by celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Established on August 4, 2000 (B.S. 2057/4/20), SEMAN has spent the past 25 years championing the growth and professionalism of the solar energy sector in Nepal. The anniversary celebration brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and renewable energy advocates to reflect on the journey of Nepal's solar sector and discuss the way forward.
With a membership of 134 companies, SEMAN serves as a vital platform for manufacturers and traders involved in solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies. Over the years, the association has played a critical role in enhancing technical capacity, improving policy dialogue, and strengthening cooperation between stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, SEMAN’s leadership acknowledged the contributions of its 11 past presidents, whose vision and dedication helped shape the association’s progress. The event also recognized SEMAN’s collaboration with the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC), various government agencies, Nepal Electricity Authority, donor organizations, and provincial and local governments, in promoting clean energy across Nepal.
As part of its commitment to human resource development, SEMAN has successfully conducted technical training programs such as Solar Electric Technician Level I and II, and organized orientation sessions for school teachers and company staff to raise awareness and build capacity in solar energy systems.
Today, with a modest yet dedicated team of five staff members, SEMAN continues to advocate for sustainable energy solutions, support its members, and push for a more solar-powered Nepal.
The 25th anniversary celebration was not just a commemoration of past achievements, but also a reaffirmation of SEMAN's commitment to a cleaner, greener future for the country.
