Kathmandu, June 4, 2025 – In celebration of World Environment Day, the Sherpa Tourism Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (STEAN), in collaboration with the Nepal Sherpa Student Association, has organized a hiking and cleaning campaign under the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution." This eco-friendly initiative aims to inspire individuals to adopt sustainable practices while contributing to a cleaner environment.
The event is set to take place tomorrow, starting at 11:00 AM, with participants gathering at Jogdol Gate, Sahid Park. The program is expected to last for approximately 2.5 hours and will combine a refreshing hike with a hands-on cleanup of the surrounding trails.
Participation in this campaign is free of charge, and all attendees will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and enjoy organic Nepali snacks, making it a rewarding experience for everyone involved.
This initiative highlights the urgent need to combat plastic pollution, a major environmental issue worldwide. By engaging local communities and visitors in such activities, STEAN and the Nepal Sherpa Student Association aim to foster a sense of environmental stewardship while promoting eco-tourism in Nepal.
A Call to Action
The hiking and cleaning campaign represents more than just a one-day event-it is a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect and preserve our natural landscapes. The organizers encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to join the movement, emphasizing that individual actions can lead to significant change.
Why It Matters
Nepal's pristine trails and mountainous regions are invaluable assets, attracting trekkers and nature enthusiasts from across the globe. However, the increasing accumulation of plastic waste threatens the beauty and sustainability of these environments. Initiatives like this not only address the immediate challenge of waste management but also set an example for responsible tourism and community-driven conservation efforts.
Join the STEAN family and the Nepal Sherpa Student Association today to make a difference. Together, we can "Beat Plastic Pollution" and pave the way for a cleaner, greener future.
