Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, briefed the media after the meeting, stating, “Based on the recommendation of the selection committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, the Cabinet has decided to appoint Dr. Bishwanath Paudel as the new Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.”
The selection committee had shortlisted three candidates for the position: Acting Governor Nilam Dhungana, former Secretary Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai, and economist Dr. Bishwanath Paudel. Following careful consideration, the government chose Dr. Paudel for the prestigious role.
