Kathmandu, May 20, 2025 – In an unprecedented diplomatic visit, 22 Ambassadors and Representatives from European Union (EU) Member States, accompanied by the EU Ambassador to Nepal, met with Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba. This visit, part of the 2025 Heads of Mission (HoMs) Mission to Nepal, marked a significant milestone in EU-Nepal relations.

The discussions revolved around shared values of peace, stability, and sustainable development, reaffirming the EU’s long-standing commitment to Nepal’s socio-economic progress. Key topics included Nepal’s developmental priorities, climate action, and fostering mutual cooperation in areas of governance, education, and trade.

“This visit underscores the EU’s unwavering interest in Nepal’s growth and prosperity. Our partnership is rooted in common aspirations for peace and stability, which remain the cornerstone of our collaboration,” remarked Dr. Deuba during the meeting.

The delegation’s visit reflects the EU’s recognition of Nepal’s strategic importance in South Asia and its role as a hub of cultural and natural heritage. EU officials highlighted ongoing projects and initiatives in Nepal, emphasizing their focus on empowering local communities, enhancing environmental sustainability, and promoting human rights.

The 2025 HoMs Mission is being hailed as a historic moment in Nepal’s foreign diplomacy, showcasing its ability to engage with global partners to achieve shared goals. This record-breaking visit is expected to further bolster Nepal’s ties with the EU, paving the way for deeper collaboration in the future.
