Tragic Incident in Dhulikhel Highlights Workplace Safety Concerns

Kavre, Nepal - May 18, 2025

A tragic incident occurred yesterday in Dhulikhel, Kavre, when a worker from Sarlahi lost his life due to electrocution. The worker was performing maintenance work on an electric pole when electricity suddenly flowed through the structure, fatally injuring him.

This shocking event raises serious questions about workplace safety and procedural lapses. How did electricity unexpectedly surge through the pole during active maintenance? Was there a failure in coordination between the power supply authority and the workers?

The victim, a sole breadwinner for his family, leaves behind a grieving household that now faces immense economic and emotional hardship. Incidents like this are not isolated; similar accidents have been reported across Nepal, highlighting the need for stringent safety measures in high-risk jobs.

Labor rights activists and local residents have expressed outrage, demanding accountability from the concerned authorities. They emphasize that the negligence displayed in ensuring worker safety is unacceptable.

Ecosphere News urges the government and power supply companies to take immediate action by conducting a thorough investigation into this incident. The need for comprehensive safety protocols, regular training, and strict enforcement of workplace regulations cannot be overstated.

This unfortunate loss serves as a grim reminder of the risks many workers face daily in Nepal. It is imperative that such incidents do not recur and that justice is served for the family of the deceased.
