MCA-Nepal Hosts Market Outreach Event for 297 km Transmission Line Procurement

On September 30, 2024, Millennium Challenge Account Nepal (MCA-Nepal) organized a market outreach event in Kathmandu, attracting over 70 participants from national and international companies.

The event focused on the upcoming procurement of the remaining 297 km of the 315 km transmission line project, a key component of Nepal's energy infrastructure expansion.During the session, MCA-Nepal provided detailed insights into the project’s scope, procurement timeline, and procedures, along with the principles and guidelines potential bidders must follow.

The procurement for this phase of the transmission line is set to be launched in November 2024.This project is part of a larger initiative to enhance Nepal's energy transmission capabilities and boost cross-border electricity trade. MCA-Nepal has already awarded the contract for an 18 km cross-border transmission line, which was prioritized and separated from the rest of the project due to its strategic significance for Nepal’s cross-border electricity trade.

The event served as an important platform for fostering collaboration between MCA-Nepal and industry stakeholders, signaling a significant step forward in advancing Nepal's energy connectivity and sustainable development goals.
