Dhangadhi, Sudurpashchim Province
A month-long Skills and Employment Fair kicked off today in Dhangadhi, the temporary capital of Sudurpashchim Province. Organized by Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City in collaboration with the Federation of Training and Employment Entrepreneurs, the event aims to foster skills development and employment opportunities in the region.
The fair was inaugurated by the Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, who highlighted the government's commitment to advancing large-scale projects like West Seti and Upper Karnali. He expressed optimism that the event would play a significant role in producing a skilled workforce, contributing to regional development and self-reliance.
According to the organizers, the fair will provide skill-based training to 1,040 participants in 29 different disciplines across eight sectors. These include painting, waiter services, priesthood, marble fixture installation, fashion design, advanced beautician skills, accounting management, and advanced tailoring, among others.
Deputy Mayor of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City, Kandakala Rana, emphasized the transformative potential of the fair, stating, "This initiative not only equips individuals with practical skills but also addresses unemployment by creating pathways for economic empowerment."
The event reflects a growing emphasis on vocational training in Nepal, particularly in Sudurpashchim Province, where such initiatives are essential to bridging the gap between education and employment. The fair is expected to enhance the professional capacity of the local population, paving the way for long-term growth and development.
