Pokhara, Kaski – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli underscored the importance of honesty, self-confidence, and national contribution as he addressed the 20th convocation ceremony of Pokhara University in Dungepatan, Kaski, on Tuesday. Speaking as the Chancellor of the university, Prime Minister Oli urged graduates to apply their knowledge positively for societal and national development.IMG_20250220_155716-1740046586.jpg

The Prime Minister highlighted Nepal’s rich legacy as a center of knowledge, philosophy, yoga, and research, encouraging the 7,872 graduating students to work with integrity. "Positive success can only be achieved through honesty. Success derived from dishonesty does not serve society. Even if you excel academically, using that knowledge for crimes like theft or fraud cannot be considered a success," he remarked.

He called upon the graduates to rise above selfish pursuits and contribute meaningfully to the nation. "You must be useful to society and the country. If you only think of yourself, you become selfish. Do something for the nation and society. Let the pride of citizen sovereignty reside within you," he added.

Reaffirming Nepal’s sovereignty, Prime Minister Oli urged the audience to reject feelings of inferiority based on the size of the country. "The sovereignty of any nation is neither small nor large. Be courageous, but do not be reckless," he said, using the metaphor of training an elephant to inspire perseverance and boldness in facing challenges.

Acknowledging Nepal's potential, he emphasized the importance of transformative development. "We have fertile land that can drive transformative growth. Universities should actively participate in this mission. The government is committed to supporting them," he stated.

During the ceremony, degrees were awarded to students from various faculties and levels, with outstanding graduates receiving the Chancellor’s Medal in recognition of their academic excellence.

This milestone event served as a call to action for Nepal’s youth, reminding them of their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future through dedication, honesty, and innovation.
