Kathmandu, September 27 2024 – Build Up Nepal, a pioneering social enterprise focused on creating eco-friendly and disaster-resilient housing, has been selected as one of the top 15 finalists for The Earthshot Prize 2024.
This prestigious global prize, established by Prince William, honors innovative solutions that address the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.Build Up Nepal empowers local communities to construct affordable and sustainable homes using their eco-bricks, an innovation aimed at minimizing environmental impact while providing durable housing in disaster-prone regions.
Their eco-bricks initiative stands out as a leading example of climate-smart solutions, fostering both community resilience and environmental sustainability.In November 2024, five of these finalists will be awarded £1 million each to scale up their groundbreaking projects.
This recognition places Nepal at the forefront of global efforts to tackle the climate crisis and underscores the importance of sustainable development.
