Kathmandu, November 5, 2026: The Swiss Innovation Forum, jointly organized by the Nepal Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industries (NSCCI), with the Nepal Technology Innovation Center (NTIC) at Kathmandu University as co-organizer, successfully concluded in Kathmandu on Thursday, bringing together experts and professionals from Nepal and Switzerland to explore innovative approaches to sustainable transportation and the future of mobility.
Held at GATE College, the forum provided a platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking and discussions on how innovative mobility solutions could improve connectivity across Nepal’s urban centres, tourism destinations and trade networks.
The programme focused on shared mobility, sustainable transportation systems and emerging mobility models, highlighting the importance of international collaboration, technological innovation and sustainable approaches to addressing Nepal’s evolving transportation needs.
The forum featured insights from three distinguished speakers: Mr. Conrad Wagner, Co-founder of Mobility Car Sharing Switzerland and a mobility strategist and entrepreneur; Ms. Victoria Nerenberg, former Manager of Technology and Business Innovation at Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), San Francisco; and Prof. Dr. Bim Prasad Shrestha, Director of the Nepal Technology Innovation Center at Kathmandu University.
Their participation brought international and national perspectives on mobility innovation, technology-driven transportation solutions and opportunities to develop more efficient and sustainable transport systems.
The discussions were particularly relevant to Nepal, where rapid urbanization, growing tourism activities, increasing transportation demand and connectivity challenges have created a need for more integrated, accessible and environmentally sustainable mobility solutions.
Shared mobility and innovative transportation models offer potential opportunities to reduce dependence on private vehicles, improve the efficiency of existing transport infrastructure, enhance urban connectivity and support Nepal's transition towards a low-carbon development pathway.
With his closing remarks NSCCI president Mr. Khem Lakai said "the event also provided opportunities for policymakers, industry professionals, academics, entrepreneurs, innovators and other participants to exchange ideas and explore potential areas of cooperation between Nepal and Switzerland".
The successful conclusion of the forum highlighted the value of international knowledge-sharing and institutional partnerships in advancing sustainable mobility and technological innovation in Nepal.
As Nepal continues to pursue sustainable urban development, tourism growth and improved regional connectivity, collaboration among academic institutions, the private sector, policymakers and international partners will be increasingly important in shaping the future of transportation.
