NUWAKOT, Nepal - A 64-year-old woman was rescued from Betravati Bazaar in Nuwakot on Saturday, 11 days after a devastating flood struck the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
Chandrika Shrestha, a resident of Bidur Municipality-10, Nuwakot, was rescued from the house of Anand Shrestha in Betravati Bazaar by a team of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, under the command of Inspector Suman Bik.
Shrestha was found unconscious during the rescue operation. Following the rescue, she is being transported by helicopter to the Nepali Army’s Maithil Barracks in Trishuli for medical attention.
She will receive initial treatment at the barracks and, depending on her condition and medical requirements, may be transferred to Kathmandu for further treatment.
The rescue comes on the 11th day since the catastrophic Bhotekoshi flood, highlighting the continuing humanitarian and rescue challenges in areas affected by the disaster.
Authorities and security agencies have continued search, rescue and relief operations in flood-affected areas, where infrastructure and communities have suffered extensive damage.FB_IMG_1788605044327-1788647285.jpg
