Kathmandu, Nepal - A two-day “Bagmati Province-Level Youth Conference” has officially commenced from Baisakh 25, 2083, aiming to strengthen youth participation in democracy, digital governance, and responsible technology use across the province. The conference is jointly organized by the NGO Federation of Nepal (NGO Federation) and Youth Initiative, bringing together young leaders, social activists, students, and stakeholders from all 13 districts of Bagmati Province.
The conference was inaugurated by Bagmati Province Minister for Social Development, Honorable Kanchan Chandra Bade, as the chief guest. The opening session was chaired by Youth Initiative President Yogesh Kafle and attended by NGO Federation Central President Arjun Kumar Bhattarai as a special guest.
According to the organizers, the conference has been designed as a platform to promote dialogue, collaboration, and policy discussions among youths on emerging democratic and digital challenges. Key areas of discussion include civic space, digital security, ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI), digital advocacy, constitutional reform, and the preparation of a province-level youth manifesto.
The organizers stated that the initiative seeks to empower young people with safe and responsible digital practices while encouraging meaningful youth engagement in democratic processes and policy-making. Interactive sessions, group discussions, and collaborative workshops are being conducted throughout the two-day program to strengthen awareness and leadership among participants.
Participants attending the event highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy, online safety, and ethical technology use in today’s rapidly changing society. The conference also reflects increasing efforts in Nepal to involve youths in governance, civic participation, and technological transformation.
The NGO Federation of Nepal has further announced plans to organize similar provincial-level youth conferences in the remaining six provinces in the coming period, aiming to expand youth-led dialogue and democratic participation nationwide.
