Kathmandu, Nepal - The first biennial conference of the Nepal Arthroplasty Society (NAS), NAScon 2026, successfully concluded on May 2, 2026, in Kathmandu, after two days of intensive scientific exchange, collaboration, and professional engagement.
Held from May 1-2, 2026, the conference brought together leading orthopedic surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals from Nepal and abroad. The event was hosted at Himalayan Hotel, serving as a key platform for advancing knowledge in arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery).
Strengthening Expertise in Joint Replacement
Over the course of the conference, participants engaged in:
Scientific paper presentations highlighting recent research
Technical discussions on advanced hip and knee replacement procedures
Interactive sessions on surgical innovations and patient care
Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities for skill enhancement
Experts emphasized that such academic gatherings are essential for improving surgical precision, patient outcomes, and evidence-based practice in Nepal’s healthcare system.
Enhancing Global Collaboration
NAScon 2026 witnessed the participation of international experts, fostering global knowledge exchange and collaboration. The conference enabled Nepali orthopedic professionals to gain exposure to emerging global trends, modern technologies, and best practices in arthroplasty.
The Nepal Arthroplasty Society, a relatively new professional body, organized the event as part of its mission to promote education, research, and excellence in joint replacement surgery across the country.
A Step Forward for Nepal’s Healthcare System
With the growing burden of musculoskeletal disorders and increasing demand for joint replacement procedures, stakeholders believe that NAScon 2026 has contributed to strengthening Nepal’s orthopedic care capacity.
The successful completion of the conference also highlights Nepal’s increasing role as a host for international medical and scientific events, reinforcing its position in the regional healthcare landscape.
Looking Ahead
Building on the success of its first biennial conference, the Nepal Arthroplasty Society is expected to continue organizing similar initiatives to support continuous professional development and innovation in orthopedic surgery.
