Kathmandu, Nepal - Consortium Nepal successfully organised the National Child Participation Dialogue Programme during the inaugural session of its 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM), highlighting the importance of meaningful child participation, the protection of children's rights, and their involvement in decision-making processes.
The programme was graced by the presence of Hon. Samiksha Baskota, Chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives, as the Chief Guest. Her presence and expressed commitment to promoting and ensuring meaningful child participation provided further encouragement to the participants and organisers.
The programme brought together representatives of child rights institutions, civil society organisations, child rights activists, advocacy groups, children, and member organisations to highlight the importance of creating an environment where children can meaningfully express their views and contribute to decisions affecting their lives.
Among those attending were the Information Officer of the National Child Rights Council, the President of the NGO Federation of Nepal, representatives of the National Child Advocacy Council, child rights activists, children, and representatives of Consortium Nepal's member organisations.
The dialogue underscored the need to strengthen children's participation beyond symbolic representation and ensure that their voices are heard, respected, and considered in relevant decision-making processes.
Meaningful child participation is an essential component of children's rights. Ensuring such participation requires continued collaboration among government institutions, civil society organisations, child rights advocates, and other stakeholders.
Consortium Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to promoting meaningful child participation, safeguarding children's rights, and strengthening their involvement in decision-making processes.
The programme concluded with appreciation to all participants, stakeholders, and distinguished guests for their valuable presence and contributions.
